Vsdx2Bpmn and Crismo’s free converter
Crismo offers a free converter, with no sign-up. Vsdx2Bpmn is paid, with two free conversions to start. Here is what each one states, so you can pick the right one for your files.
The short version
- One diagram on one page: Crismo’s converter is free and needs no account. Start there.
- Files with several pages, or a whole set of diagrams to migrate: Vsdx2Bpmn converts every page of each file and keeps the layout of the original.
- Either way, data objects need work afterwards, and you should compare the result with the original.
This page compares what each service states about itself. Crismo’s statements were read on its converter page and in its privacy policy on 8 October 2026; ours come from our own code. We have not published side-by-side measurements yet. If something here is out of date, write to info@vsdx2bpmn.com and we will correct it.
Point by point
Price

Account
- Crismo
- None needed to convert and download.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- None needed to see the converted diagram and its report. An account is needed to download the BPMN file.
Files with several pages
- Crismo
- Its list of limitations says: single-page diagrams only, and only the first page of a multi-page file is converted. The upload box on the same page says multi-tab files are supported.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- Every page, up to 100 per file, placed one under the other in a single BPMN diagram.
Expanded sub-processes
- Crismo
- Converted as call activities.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- Kept as sub-processes with their content inside, when the original file records which shapes belong to them.
Data objects and data stores
- Crismo
- Detected, but not included in the BPMN output yet.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- Converted as tasks. Their type must be changed afterwards.
Connector paths
- Crismo
- Described as approximate, to be adjusted in the built-in editor.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- Follow the route stored in the original file when the connector records one; otherwise a straight or right-angled line is drawn. Curves become straight segments.
Where the file is processed
- Crismo
- The page says the file is parsed in your browser and nothing is uploaded to a server. A notice on the same page says the uploaded file is stored anonymously to improve the converter.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- On our servers.
How long files are kept
- Crismo
- According to its privacy policy: the file, the BPMN result and a picture of it are stored anonymously if you accept the analytics cookies, and nothing if you refuse them. They are kept indefinitely, the files in the EU; a file is deleted on request by e-mail.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- Test without an account: neither the file nor the result is kept. With an account: the source file is deleted from our storage when the conversion ends, the result after 24 hours. The line in your history stays until you delete it.
Editor
- Crismo
- Built-in editor to adjust the result.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- Built-in editor for account holders, with BPMN and PDF export.
Other source formats
- Crismo
- Also converts draw.io files, and Lucidchart diagrams exported as .vsdx.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- .vsdx only.
What the company sells
- Crismo
- A process platform. Its converter page invites you to import the result into Crismo.
- Vsdx2Bpmn
- Conversion only. No modelling tool to move you into.
When Crismo is the better choice
- You have a few diagrams, each on one page.
- You do not want to create an account or pay.
- You also have draw.io diagrams to convert.
- You want to model in Crismo afterwards.
When Vsdx2Bpmn is the better choice
- Your files have several pages and you need all of them.
- You are migrating dozens or hundreds of files and redrawing each diagram by hand is the cost you want to avoid.
- Your diagrams use expanded sub-processes and you want their content kept inside.
- You want the source file deleted once it is converted.
The simplest way to decide is to run the same file through both. Our test page shows a picture of the converted diagram without an account.
